Continuing our commitment to offering the best BI speed and performance at any scale for all BI tools, the Kyvos Cloud BI Acceleration platform brings many new and exciting features in the latest version – Kyvos 2022.3.

As the world’s fastest and most scalable BI acceleration platform, Kyvos empowers data scientists, BI specialists, data engineers, and business leaders to make better decisions with accurate and deeper insights into their business at the speed of their thought.

Our patented aggregation technology and advanced features help enterprises perform multidimensional analytics on any cloud data platform, using any BI tool for sub-second insights on billions of data points. Let’s look at what’s new in the latest version:

Browse Calculated Measures Via SQL Interface

Kyvos allowed calculated measures via MDX in its previous versions. Now, we make it better with an added capability to browse calculated measures in your BI tool while connecting to Kyvos via SQL as well. Users can leverage this capability to build calculations in their visualization tool and perform actions like filters and TopN without any barriers.

Since several BI tools allow connectivity only through SQL, this new update enables us to improve the versatility of our platform, no matter the connectivity interface you use. Your team can save time and resources by completing these actions within the Kyvos bundle instead of creating calculated measures separately on the BI tool.

Write SCOPE Statement in MDX

The new Kyvos version enables you to define the scope of your cube in MDX through a manual script. It creates a sub-cube where all individual queries can be run. The subsequent queries will run on that scope itself. With this functionality, you can design the sub-cube and add, delete, or update the scripts on or over the cube. This can be done manually or through REST APIs.

Migrate Cube Queries from One Environment to Another

Business queries are captured and operated from the production environment, while cube design happens in the development cluster. To leverage the Smart Recommendations feature, users need to create cube design improvements in separate clusters, causing an inability to create the right number and format of aggregates for faster query performance.

With the new release, the process becomes more user-friendly as you can now migrate queries from production to the dev environment leveraging the existing usage patterns to design an optimized cube.

You can also create multiple iterations based on accurate recommendations and design a strong aggregation strategy. It’s a smart way to identify the aggregates automatically to build the right cube size and deliver better response time.

Load-Based Scaling for Cost-Effective Results

Scalability and elasticity are at the crux of what we do. Kyvos lets you schedule your query engines per your usage patterns or control the capacity of query engines to save costs when you have lesser queries to run.

This additional new functionality allows you to configure the query engines and BI clusters based on the load. If there’s no query coming within a defined time, you can configure Kyvos to scale down the capacity and shut down the BI server and engine or reduce their capacity for a specific period when there’s no query traffic.

Better User Impersonation

Use separate credentials on a single hive server to create multiple connections and control access to specific data. Users can now list or preview tables specific to the credentials designated to the source connection in the registered file. This way, users can access data related to their credentials only.

Azure AD Support for AWS and GCP

Leveraging the rising popularity of Azure AD for authentication and user management, we now support Azure AD integration for Kyvos deployed on AWS and GCP. This capability makes importing and syncing all users in this active directory easier without a glitch.

Raw Data Querying Enabled for Google BigQuery Connections

Kyvos now supports raw data querying on BigQuery for deeper insights. You can run queries even on summarized data as well as data filtered through ROLAP functions to drill down to the lowest granularity of information. The functionality will accelerate the speed of raw data querying.

Support for Tableau Online

Kyvos has introduced support for Tableau Online via SQL Connectivity to access any amount of data interactively on Tableau online with zero latencies in the latest release.

The update also includes a better TDS file connection for cube metadata. You can now export TDS files from Kyvos to SQL while retaining the metadata in the semantic layer. This way, the file will reflect the pre-defined formats in your Tableau worksheets.

Faster Processing for Incremental Cube Builds

When processing massive data volumes, we ensure faster speed with new enhancements in this release. For example, if you need to implement a change in a fact table, not in dimension data, you can now leverage our Fact Adjustment capability for incremental cube builds. It will reduce the processing time to less than five minutes while controlling resource utilization and saving costs.

Enhanced Web Accessibility

Kyvos strengthens web accessibility for all with a focus on increased inclusivity. In the new release, we’ve introduced many enhancements that will reiterate our commitment to better user experiences and complete compliance with WCAG 2.1 AAA Standards. It includes:

  • Text alternatives for non-text content
  • Logical reading orders implemented in coding
  • Legend icons with multiple characteristics
  • Programmatically determinable input fields
  • Proper text spacing
  • Interactions with the tooltip
  • Dark Gary color theme for better accessibility
  • Input error identification and description to users

Smart Aggregations Getting Smarter

Kyvos Smart Aggregation is a query-based mechanism that allows users to filter and analyze any amount of historical data for materializing dimensions. Our Smart Recommendations EngineTM helps build an aggregation strategy to get faster and deeper insights and add more aggregates to the existing ones.

With this new release, Kyvos has added more power to the Smart Aggregation feature. Now, Kyvos Smart Mode materializes additional dimensions as root dimensions during a full cube build. This assures better query performance and speedier results for growing data volumes. Also, the system creates separate logs for recommendations to facilitate easy identification.

Looking Ahead

With every new release, Kyvos aims to revolutionize modern BI architectures with higher speed, improved performance, and accurate results. Version 2022.3 brings forth much-awaited updates that will resolve your everyday challenges when dealing with your business’s growing data and analytical needs.
